After a major hail or wind storm, look for dents in metal roof vents, flashings and possibly dents to your vehicle, as this may give signs of potential storm damage to your roof. If you see missing cedar shakes, lifting shakes or shingles, cracked or splintered cedar, or interior leaks shortly after a storm, these also can be all signs of damage. What’s the difference between an actual cash value and a replacement cost insurance policy?
An actual cash value (ACV) policy will only cover the current value of your roof after taking depreciation into account. This is common for roofs over 15 years old.
